NBR to award top 10 VAT payers at Dhaka Trade Fair
Walton Hi-Tech becomes the highest VAT payer again
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) will honour 10 firms for becoming the highest VAT payers from sales at this year's Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) that wrapped up on February 6.
Customs, Excise & VAT Commissionerate, Dhaka (West) will distribute the awards at a ceremony.
A press release issued by the commissionerate on Monday said Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited has become the highest VAT payer in this year's edition of the trade fair like it did in the previous two years. Esquire Electronics Limited and SaRa Lifestyle Limited respectively hold the second and the third positions in the list of top VAT payers of this year.

These three firms paid Tk37.36 lakh, Tk34.77 lakh and Tk32.05 lakh VAT respectively.
The other seven firms that will receive NBR crests and certificates are Rangs Electtonics Limited, Hatil Complex Limited, Multi Line Industries Limited, Fit Elegance Limited, Navana Furniture Limited, Fair Electronics Limited, and Banga Bakers Limited.
The NBR press release said a total of Tk6.46 crore VAT was collected at the fair this year, while the collection was Tk7.02 crore last year.
The VAT Commissionerate said the collection slipped as the numbers of stalls and visitors were low compared to the previous edition.
As many as 487 stalls took part in the recently concluded fair, while the stall number was 569 in the last year.
Besides, the fair registered a total of 23 lakh visitors, while it had 35 lakh in 2019.
