Mother-daughter killed in Brahmanbaria road accident
A mother and her daughter were killed in Brahmanbaria when the car they were in hit a stationary tractor carrying an electric pole this morning (3 September).
The accident took place in the Betbaria area of the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.
The deceased were identified as Foysa Banu, 45, and her daughter Ferdousi, 20, from Tilikandi village of Brahmanbaria's Sarail upazila, said Md Sarwar Hossain, sub-inspector of Khatihata highway police.
"The mother and the daughter were travelling by car from Brahmanbaria Sadar's Suhilpur area to Dhaka Airport this morning. In the Betbaria area of the Dhaka-Sylhet highway, the car collided with a tractor carrying an electric pole," he said.
"The impact caused the electric pole on the tractor to break through the windshield of the car, crushing the mother and daughter inside, resulting in their immediate death at the scene," Sarwar added.
He said police arrived at the spot upon receiving the news, recovered the bodies and sent them to the Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital morgue.
"The tractor was also seized," Sarwar said.
