Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station has returned the child, who went missing in the city's Faruki Park on Sunday, to her parents.
Khadija Khatun, 4, daughter of Md Sohrab and Shumi Akhter, was handed over to her parents around 11pm yesterday.
She is from Bhadugar Bhuiyanpara area of Brahmanbaria municipality.
Earlier, however, the child said her name is Adi.
Khadija was handed over to her parents by Md Selim Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station.
The OC informed that a woman recognised Khadija when the latter was sent to the nearby shoe store with a sub-inspector to buy her a pair of shoes.
"Later, we sent news of Khadija through the woman in the store after which the child's parents came to the police station to take her home," he added.
According to the police, Khadija was found crying in front of one of the food stalls in Faruki Park.
Later, a shopkeeper took her and handed her over to a local woman who took her to a flapjack seller outside the city's stadium.
The police rescued and brought Khadija to the police station after receiving the news.
