Miscreants attempt to kill co operative officer in Rajshahi

Miscreants attempted to kill a upazila co operative officer in Rajshahi in the middle of the night on Sunday.

The incident took place in Bakmishail village of Mohanpur Upazila in Rajshahi when Altaf Hossain (58) was home alone and left the main door of his house unlocked.

The miscreants entered the victim’s house at about 2 am and attempted to kill him by suffocation.

However, after several unsuccessful attempts at trying to suffocate Altaf, the miscreants repeatedly stabbed him with sharp weapons.

After the miscreants ran away Altaf called for his neighbours and they took him to the upazila health complex. Later, he was transferred to Rajshahi Medical College (RMC).

Altaf’s wife, Jasmine Ara, has informed the police about the incident and they will file a case in this connection. She has further stated that attempts at killing her husband was not because of professional reasons.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Mohanpur Police Station Mostak Ahmed said that he inspected the house in the morning.

The OC added, police will take necessary actions if the victim files a case.
