MA Hashem laid to eternal rest at Banani graveyard
Partex Group's founding Chairman MA Hashem has been laid to eternal rest at the Banani graveyard in the capital on Friday afternoon.
He was buried complying with hygiene rules following two Namaz-e Janaza at the Azad Mosque of Gulshan after Jumma Prayer, reports Prothom Alo.
MA Hashem died of Covid-19 on Thursday at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. He was 78.
After testing positive for coronavirus recently, Hashem had been receiving treatment at home till 10 December. The next day, he was admitted to Evercare Hospital.
On 16 December, Hashem's oxygen saturation level dropped, and he had been breathing with high flow nasal cannula since then.
MA Hashem was a former Member of Parliament from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
In 1959, Hashem began his career by trading tobacco and later went to establish Partex Group, one of the largest companies in Bangladesh. He exapnded his business into consumer goods, hard boards, insurance, real estate and steel.
Hashem was married to Sultana Hashem and they have six sons.
