Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Muhammad Khairul Islam took over as the Director of intelligence wing of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Wednesday.
Lt Col Khairul took charge of the position at RAB replacing Lt Col Md Sarwar Bin Kashem, said a press release issued by RAB.
Lt Col Khairul is a competent officer of the Bangladesh Army. He held important positions in various units and agencies of the army. He is a graduate of Mirpur Defense Services Command and Staff College and has experience working in intelligence agencies.
He served in the United Nations mission Force BANMP-4 (UNMIS) in Sudan.
Lt Col Muhammad Khairul Islam joined the RAB forces on deputation on 19 September 2019 and took over as the Commander of the Rapid Action Battalion-12 on 14 November 2019.
Under his leadership, RAB-12 has successfully worked to suppress various criminals including militants, drug addicts, terrorists, snatchers and illegal armed groups.
