Gunfight

Another Rohingya man, accused in Juba League leader Omar Faruk's murder case, was killed in an alleged gunfight with the law enforcers early today at Nayanpara Muchni Rohingya camp of Hinla area in Teknaf.

The deceased Habibullah, 40, a resident of Rohingya camp no. 26, said Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police station.

On information, police conducted a drive in the area. Sensing the presence of them, an armed robber gang started firing on them, forcing them to retaliate, said Pradip.

He said Habibullah sustained gun injuries during the gunfight while others managed to flee the scene. Habibullah was later taken to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital where doctor declared him dead.

Habibullah's body is in the morgue for autopsy.

Some police officials were also injured during the gunfight.

Separate cases have been filed regarding the incident, Pradip added.

On August 22, police recovered the bullet-hit body of Faruk, president of Hinla Union Parishad Jubo League.
