JU student arrested over killing of ex-BCL leader Shamim
Police detained Rayhan during a drive in Gazipur this morning
Police have arrested a student of Jahangirnagar University (JU) over the killing of former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League's JU unit and ex-student of the university Shamim Ahmed alias Shamim Molla.
The detainee, Md Mahmudul Hasan Rayhan, was a student of English Department of the university and a resident student of Sheikh Russell Hall.
Police detained Rayhan during a drive in Gazipur this morning, confirmed Officer In-Charge of Ashulia police station Abu Bakar Siddique.
"Rayhan was detained from Gazipur's Hotapara area around 5:30am," the OC said.
Earlier, Shudipta Shahin, chief security officer of the university, lodged a case with Ashulia police station on 19 September over Shamim's killing.
Rayhan was made the third accused in the case, said police.
