Jaflong Valley Boarding School, the largest residential educational institution in Bangladesh, celebrated its first anniversary in Dhaka on Thursday.
The school, the largest in the country in terms of campus area, opened in 2018 just 70 kilometers away from Osmani International Airport, Sylhet.
The principal of the school, Brij Kishore Bharadwaj gave a welcome speech at a programme held in the capital to mark the occasion.
Hafiz Ahmed Majumder, chairman of the school and also a parliament member, was present as chief guest, while the managing director of Hamim Group, AK Azad, presided over it.
"Our motto is to produce students of international standard who will later lead the nation. We will do everything to reach the goal," said Hafiz Ahmed Majumder.
AK Azad said, "A good number of children go abroad for international standard education every year. We thought of establishing such a quality school in Bangladesh. That is why we established the Jaflong Valley Boarding School. We believe it will be our pride in coming years."
"We presently have 120 students, and the faculty is made up of 21 local and three foreign teachers," he said.
The managing director of Square Group Tapan Chowdhury, managing director and chairman of Doex Group AR Sinha, managing director of Paragon Group Moshiur Rahman, managing director of Knit Asia Matin Chowdhury, director and
chairman of Sharmin Group Md Ismail Husain, chairman and managing Director of the Mahin Group of Companies Abdullah Al Mahmud, country director of Population Council Dr Ubaidur Rahman and Kabir Yaqub of Pubali Bank, among others, were present at the programme.
