The Indian High Commission in Dhaka has instructed its nationals to provide their travel details before entering India amid 14-day border closure with Bangladesh.
A notice issued by the high commission said the authorities have been assured that consideration will be given to assist all Indian nationals in Bangladesh.
"Bangladesh authorities have informed us that entry into Bangladesh from India through the land border routes stands suspended for the next 14 days," the notice read.
Those Indians who need to travel home to India were urged to send tentative travel plans by email to the High Commission at email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Indian High Commission also demanded all relevant details such as name, Passport no, Visa no, email address, Bangladeshi contact and place of exit (Benapole/Akhuara) well in advance of their date of journey.
The Bangladesh government has closed the border with India for 14 days, starting from Monday, as Covid-19 has taken a dangerous turn in the neighbouring country.
But, Foreign ministry sources said even if the movement of people is stopped, the trading system will remain in force during these 14 days.
