Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami on Thursday said Bangladesh has received the highest number of vaccines from India.
"Of all the countries we have sent Covid-19 vaccines, Bangladesh has received the most," he said while addressing the media at the Akhaura International Immigration Checkpoint in Brahmanbaria.
According to the agreement, 7 million vaccines have been provided in Bangladesh, he added.
Earlier, the Indian High Commissioner said there is a global crisis over the availability of Covid-19 vaccines.
"The demand is much higher than the supply. Everyone is working together to increase the availability and supply of vaccines," he added.
The High Commissioner came to Bangladesh after passing a four-day holiday in his home country.
Commenting on the coronavirus situation, Doraiswami said, "We are working to ensure that the vaccination process continues in Bangladesh."
"The second wave of coronavirus is much severe. The situation in India is getting tougher day by day. We are all working together," he added.
Akhaura Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Noor Alam and Akhaura Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman were present at the checkpoint along with the High Commissioner.
