A twelve grader was injured after jumping off the second floor of a college building in the capital today.

Akash, a student of Mirpur Bonoful Adibashi School and College, is now undergoing treatment at a city hospital.

The teenager was reportedly humiliated by a teacher and the college authorities, claimed his agitated college mates.

It was rumoured that Akash died in the incident, sparking protests by his fellow students who took position in front of the institution and vandalised some window glasses and doors.

Principal Subrata Kumar Mondol denied the allegations of humiliation, saying: "A probe body will be formed and we will thoroughly investigate the matter."

Police officials said Akash is quite okay now.

"The injured student was sent to Agargaon's Neuroscience Hospital and his condition is better now. After a CT scan, further details of his condition will be known," said Khairul Amin, assistant commissioner (Mirpur zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The police official said the situation at the college is under control now.
