Yousuf Mollah is the owner of a toy store at the Rajdhani Super Market in Dhaka. His shop and several business establishments were gutted in a fire that originated at around 5:15pm from the second floor of the market.

"This shop was my only source of income. How will my family survive now? How will I bear the expenses of my children's education?" he asked while breaking into tears.

"My shop (MM Traders) was the biggest toy store at Rajdhani Super Market. I have lost goods worth Tk50 lakh in the fire. I lost everything," he added.

Another shop, 'Nasir Crockeries' was also burnt down completely in the fire. Didar Mollah, owner of the shop, said, "I started this shop around two and a half months ago by taking bank loans and borrowing money from the relatives. I had items worth around Tk5 lakh in the shop. All of them got destroyed in the fire."

Director-General of Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence Brigadier General Mohammad Sajjad Hossain, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Wari zone Deputy Commissioner Iftekharul Islam, among others, visited the spot.

A fire broke out at Rajdhani Super Market in the capital on Wednesday evening. One-hundred-eighty firefighters of 25 units doused the blaze around 6:40pm with the help of local people and traders.
