Dhaka Metropolitan Police (detective branch) arrested Dhaka city unit Hefazat-e-Islam president, Maulana Junaid Al Habib, from Baridhara in the capital on Saturday.

Maulana Junaid Al Habib was arrested in a case filed in connection with Hefazat violence in 2013, reports Banglatribune.

Acting on a tip-off, a team conducted a drive at a madrasa in the area and arrested Maulana Junaid Al Habib, said DMP Joint Commissioner Mahbub Alam.

There have been several cases against him in connection with violence in 2013. Remanded, he will also be shown arrested for his involvement in recent violence during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Dhaka, the official added.
