‘Use mask only if you have cold and cough’
Healthcare experts recommend throwing the used mask into a covered bin before returning home so that others cannot use it
Use a mask only if you have a cold and cough, said Dr Mirzadi Sabrina Flora, director of the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) on Thursday at a press briefing.
She urged people to not forget to throw the used mask into a covered bin before returning home so that others cannot use it.
"Many of us are confused about whether or not to use a mask. No coronavirus case has been found in Bangladesh. Those who have come from China have been quarantined. So, everyone does not need to wear a mask," said Dr Sabrina informed.
Returnees from Wuhan, ground zero of the coronavirus outbreak, are kept in Hajj Camp in Ashkona.
"None of them have been found infected with coronavirus," she added.
At present, 300 returnees from Wuhan are staying at the Hajj Camp, 11 are at the Combined Military Hospital (Dhaka), and one is at the Kurmitola General Hospital.
Since January 21, as many as 7,693 individuals have returned from China. So far, the blood of 50 people have been tested for coronavirus.
