Unani bodies commemorate Hafez Azizul Islam, ER Khan
Famed physician Hafez Azizul Islam was the former chairman of the Bangladesh Board of Unani and Ayurvedic Systems of Medicine while ER Khan was a member of the family behind Hakim Habibur Rahman Unani Medical College
Hakim Habibur Rahman Unani Medical College and Bangladesh Unani Medical Association jointly organsied a memorial meeting and Dua Mahfil on the Hakim Habibur Rahman Unani Medical College premises in Bakshibazar in the capital.
The memorial event was held on February 15 to commemorate two former key members of Unani Medical Association – the famed Unani physician Hafez Azizul Islam and committee adviser ER Khan, said a press release.
Hafez Azizul Islam was the former chairman of the Bangladesh Board of Unani and Ayurvedic Systems of Medicine and former president of Bangladesh Unani Medical Association. ER Khan, on the other hand, was the founder of Shefaul Mulk Hakim Habibur Foundation and a member of the family behind Hakim Habibur Rahman Unani Medical College.

Dr Hakim Md Yousuf Harun Bhuiyan, managing director and chief mutawalli of Hamdard Laboratories Bangladesh and chairman of Bangladesh Unani Medical Association presided over the event in the presence of chief guest former Food Minister Md Qamrul Islam.
Md Qamrul Islam said the contributions of Hakim Hafez Azizul Islam and ER Khan to improve medical branches of Unani and Ayurveda will always be remembered. He prayed for the peace of their departed souls.
Hakim Md Yousuf Harun Bhuiyan said that the present government promotes Unani and Ayurvedic treatments. Principal Hakim Hafez Azizul Islam devoted his life to promote education on Unani treatment. ER Khan also contributed in this regard.
"We are also following their track to improve the science of Unani and Ayurvedic treatments and to help fulfill the election pledges of the government in this regard," he added.
