Show-cause notice served to Suhrawardy Hospital acting director
Earlier on 29 October, show-cause notices were served to three doctors of the hospital over purchase anomalies
The health ministry served a show-cause notice to Dr KM Mamun Morshed, director (acting) of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, on Sunday.
The hospital held an exchange of views with all doctors, nurses and staff under Mamun's initiative on 5 November against the transfer order of the former acting director of Suhrawardy Hospital, according to the notice signed by health ministry Deputy Director Sharmin Akter Jahan.
They criticised the government order, which was against the code of conduct for the government employees and also a punishable offence.
Mamun has been asked to explain within the next three working days why no legal action would be taken against him for such activities, read the notice.
Earlier on 3 November, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital Director Professor Dr Uttam Kumar Barua was made an officer on special duty (OSD) over his controversial notice about code of costume by hospital employees and staff.
The hospital's Deputy Director Dr KM Mamun Morshed was appointed as the acting director on the same day. He will stay in the position until the appointment of the new director at the hospital.
Earlier on 29 October, the health ministry served show-cause notices to three doctors of the hospital, including Uttam Barua, for causing damage to the government financially through purchase anomalies.
The ministry found Uttam had been involved into corruption of more than Tk6 crore in purchase at the hospital.
