Mosquito menace may return: Prime minister

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said there is a possibility of the mosquito menace making a comeback during the summer and monsoon periods, worsening the already tense situation brought on by the coronavirus.

"Steps should be taken from now on to protect people from mosquitoes," the premier directed Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Md Tajul Islam and Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam during a video conference at the Ganabhaban.

"We do not want to hear the buzz of mosquitoes," she added.

The premier also suggested people to use mosquito nets while sleeping.
