The government has cancelled all leave of all its employees related to the health sector due to the coronavirus.

"All the officials, nurses and doctors related to the health sector will not be granted leave until further instructions," Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malik MP during a press briefing about preventing the spread of coronavirus today.

Briefing about the overall coronavirus situation in the country, the minister stated that there are 17 coronavirus patients in the country.

He added that all 17 that are infected are returnees from abroad or their relatives, therefore it would be easier to prevent the spread if no expatriate came back for the time being.

Speaking about gatherings and coronavirus, Zahid Malik said, "Corona is a very contiguous disease. For this reason no mass gatherings should be organised in the country at this time. All marriage ceremonies have to be postponed. Schools and colleges have already been closed. We too have to attend the Jumaah prayers indoors like Saudi Arabia is forced to."
