2 Sylhet hospitals declared quarantine centres
Every upazila health complex has been asked to preserve 4-5 beds for possible corona patients
Two hospitals in Sylhet have been declared as quarantine centres as a precaution to fight the coronavirus.
The hospitals are 120-bed Shahid Shamsuddin Ahmed District Hospital and 25-bed Chest Disease Hospital. Besides, 25-bed Hazrat Shahporan (R) Hospital has also been prepared for the purpose.
The announcement came following the decision by the Sylhet corona prevention committee. The committee was formed on March 1, addressing the Sylhet deputy commissioner and the civil surgeon as its convener and member secretary respectively.
Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital stopped admitting new patients from Sunday after the declaration while its standing patients are being transferred to other hospitals, said Sylhet Civil Surgeon Dr Premanondo Mondol.
All the doctors and the staff are training as well, he added.
Besides, every upazila health complex has been asked to preserve 4-5 beds for possible corona patients. Meanwhile, rapid response teams have been working at Tamabil, Shyaola and Sutarkandi land port areas.
