The father of a gang-rape victim has been hacked in Burichang upazila for filing a case against the alleged rapists, alleges the family.
At a press conference at a relative’s house on Wednesday, family members also alleged that they were driven out of their house by the accused.
They said the 17-year-old victim used to work at a local mill. On her way to and from workplace, a group of stalkers used to harass her.
Last week, the stalkers got angered as the girl complained to the local union parishad chairman against them.
At one stage, they ‘raped’ the girl when she came out of their house on Friday night to respond to the call of nature.
Hearing screams, her father and brother tried to rescue her. But the criminals gave them a good thrashing and took the girl to a house of one of them.
Later, they released the girl after marrying him with a youth named Shipon.
Three days after the incident, the victim filed a case with Women and Children Repression Prevention Special Tribunal-2 accusing the criminals.
The accused are Jashim Uddin, son of late Humayun Fakir, Ohid, son of late Omed Ali, and Sundar Ali, son of Somed Ali.
Angered at the filing of the case, the accused attacked victim’s father Ramjan Ali on Monday and hacked him severely when he was in a tea shop near the house.
They also drove the family out of their house.
Ramjan’s wife Selina Begum filed another case with Burichang Police Station in this regard.
At the press conference, the family demanded justice for them.
Asked about the allegations, sub-inspector of Debpur Police Outpost Mohammad Shahin Quadir said they have already received a copy of the case and launched drives to arrest the accused. ‘’Hopefully, the accused will be arrested soon," he added.
