Former army chief Aziz’s 2 brothers' 4 NIDs cancelled
“They [Haris and Joseph] obtained four NIDs - two each - without following the proper rules. Based on our investigation and regulations, these NIDs have been blocked,” said Azim
The Election Commission (EC) has cancelled four National Identity Cards (NIDs) belonging to former army chief General Aziz Ahmed's brothers, Haris Ahmed and Joseph Ahmed, due to irregularities.
EC Secretary Shafiul Azim confirmed the matter today (24 September).
"They [Haris and Joseph] obtained four NIDs - two each - without following the proper rules. Based on our investigation and regulations, these NIDs have been blocked," said Azim.
"As a result, Haris and Joseph will no longer be able to avail any benefits associated with NIDs in Bangladesh," he added.
EC's Director of Public Relations, Md Shariful Alam, also confirmed the cancellation of the NIDs issued to Haris Ahmed and Joseph Ahmed.
