The massive fire that broke out this morning at Rupnagar slum in Mirpur section 11 in the capital has been brought under control after three hours.
Twenty-two firefighting units worked to bring the blaze under control, which originated at around 9:45am today, confirmed Rasel Sikder, duty officer at the control room of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters.
It is not yet confirmed how the fire originated, or the extent of the damage it caused, said the official.
The slum is situated near Bangladesh University of Business and Technology. The place is allocated for flats for low and middle-income people under the project of Ministry of Housing and Public Works.
