Russia to support Rooppur Power Plant lifetime
Coronavirus did not affect the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant construction, says Yafes Osman
Bangladesh will take lifetime support from Russia for operating the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.
A protocol on amendment of an Intergovernmental Agreement was signed in this regard on Monday at a city hotel. The Intergovernmental Agreement was signed in 2019. Another agreement related to the nuclear fuel supply was also signed.
Architect Yafes Osman, science and technology minister and Alexey Lekhacheve, director general of Rosatom, signed the protocol on the amendment. Professor Dr Sanowar Hossain, chairman, the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission, and Fedor Sokolov, director general (commercial) to JVC, signed the rest of the appendices to the nuclear fuel supply contract.
Yafes Osman said the lifetime maintenance service was not included in the initial contract. After adding those provisions today we signed the amended contract.
He also said coronavirus did not affect the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant construction.
