Environment prime concern when lifting coal, says Nasrul
He said that coal would be lifted in such a way so that it does not cause any harm to the environment.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Thursday said that coal would be lifted from different mines considering the environmental aspect of the country.
He said that coal would be lifted in such a way so that it does not cause any harm to the environment.
Hamid made the statement while addressing a press conference marking the Energy Security Day at the Secretariat in the capital.
The minister said the government would launch some coal-fired power plants in the future as the country has coal reserves.
“The government will put emphasis on using coal from domestic sources in these plants instead of importing from abroad. However, it will have to be kept in mind that the environment should not be affected by this,” Hamid said.
The country will celebrate the Energy Security Day on Friday.
The minister also announced various programmes marking the day.
