Dr Md Jamal Uddin Bhuiyan has resigned from his position as the vice-chancellor of Sylhet Agricultural University amid protests by students.
Dr Jamal sent his resignation letter to the education ministry yesterday (21 August). In the letter addressed to the secretary of the ministry, the former VC cited personal reasons for his resignation.
Earlier yesterday afternoon, the Dean Council held a meeting in the absence of the VC and decided that Dean of Veterinary Animal and Biomedical Sciences Faculty Professor Dr Md Siddikul Islam will run the financial and administrative affairs of the university for now.
