Prof Satya Prasad Majumder appointed as new VC of Buet
Dr Majumder joined BUET in 1981 and served in various positions at the department, faculty and university lavels
Dr Satya Prasad Majumder has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet).
He is a professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Bangladesh of Buet.
Dr Majumder joined Buet in 1981 and served in various positions at the department, faculty and university levels.
He performed as head of the EEE department from June 2006 to May 2008.
He was a Visiting Faculty at Multimedia University (Malaysia), Gunma University (Japan) & University of Parma (Italy) for different period of time. He also did some consultancy for Asia IT&C Program, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperations (SAARC) & Dhaka Chamber of Commerce (DCC).
He received the B.Sc. (1st class Honors) and MSc. in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Buet in 1981 and 1985 respectively.
In 1991, he obtained his Ph.D. degree in Electric & Electronic Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur.
His research interests include Opto-electronics & Photonics, Optical Fiber Communication Systems, Optical Networks, Solution propagation, Satellite Communications, Mobile and Infra-red communications with over 100 publications.
His achievement includes Buet's Talent Pool Scholarship from 1977 to 1981 during the period of four years of undergraduate study.
He also gained research scholarship from 1987 to 1991 offered by the Government of India for Ph. D research work in the Department of Electronics & Electrical Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur 721302, India.
