Students of the country's different polytechnic institutes have warned of creating a movement if their four-point demand is not met by December 31.
Their demands include waiving tuition fees and increasing the number of seats by 2021.
They made the warning from a human chain formed under the banner of 'Polytechnic General Students' in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Thursday.
Mehedi Hasan Limon, spokesperson for the general students, said there is no way to lose a year. Classes have to be started immediately of 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th parts and examinations have to be taken following a shortened syllabus.
He said all the extra fees have to be withdrawn and semester fees have to be halved in private polytechnic institutes. Number of seats has to be increased in all polytechnic universities including Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology by 2021.
