National University approves Tk557 crore budget
National University vice chancellor said that educational activities need to be continued online
The National University senate approved a budget worth Tk557 crore for the 2020-21 financial year at their 22nd meeting held on Saturday.
The National University Senate meeting was held using the online platform Zoom for the first time this year. Vice chancellor and Senate Chairman Prof Dr Harun-ur-Rashid presided over the session.
"Coronavirus has spread across the world, taking the lives of many. This is now posing a risk to our existence," he said.
"We cannot do nothing at a time like this," Harun-ur-Rashid said, adding that educational activities need to be continued online.
He also said that the National University will build studios in selected colleges with updated technical instruments. The use of technology in academic learning will continue even after the pandemic.
"Use of technology will become a key part of the learning process in the National University, and we will take future steps keeping that in mind," he said.
During his speech, the vice chancellor congratulated the colleges that have already started academic activities online.
Treasurer Professor of the National University Noman-ur-Rashid presented a budget worth Tk556 crore 99 lakh 83 thousand during the meeting. The Senate approved the budget.
Former Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Former State Minister of the Primary and Mass Education Ministry Motahar Hossain, Aroma Dutta, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, Former Bangladesh Bank Governor Farashuddin Ahmed, among others, joined the online meeting.
