Noted educator Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam has said universities should introduce written admission tests to scrutinise applicants for the 2020-21 academic session.
"Most of the universities hold admission tests on the MCQ system but its process is wrong. The universities must scrap the marks from SSC [Secondary School Certificate] and HSC [Higher Secondary Certificate] results in the admission test," he added.
Syed Manzoorul Islam stated this while talking toThe Business Standard after the results of Higher Secondary Certificate and its equivalent examinations were published.
He further said, "It might not be possible to hold the written admission test consisting of full marks. However, the universities can base it on 40-60 written to MCQ test this year."
A total of 1,61,807 students achieved GPA 5 in the HSC of 2020 and its equivalent examinations, which is triple the number of the previous year.
The rate of GPA 5 has risen to 11.83% this time from 3.54% in the previous year's result. A total of 47,286 students achieved GPA 5 in 2019.
