Govt not to distribute books as per new curriculum

The Education Ministry will not distribute books as per the new curriculum, which was scheduled to be distributed from next academic year, due to coronavirus pandemic.

The ministry took the decision at a meeting on Tuesday with Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni in the chair.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Ministry Jakir Hossain and Deputy Education Monister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury were present at the meeting, among others.

National Curriculum and Textbook Board Chairman Narayan Chandra Shaha said, "It would be impossible to finalise the manuscript for the news books according to new curriculum for coronavirus."

That is why the students will get the books as per the existing curriculum.

Earlier, the education ministry and primary and mass education ministry planned to distribute books to class I and II and class VI as per the new curriculum in 2021, class III,  IV, VII, IX and XI in 2022, class V, VIII, X and XII in 2023.
