The students at Dhaka University have withdrawn their protest today following assurance to abolish the system of common room accommodation for first year students from next year.
"We have a meeting with VC sir this afternoon. We called off the protest as he has assured us of allocating hall seats to the new students from next year," Tanbir Hasan Shaikat, a member of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) told The Business Standard.
Earlier in the day, the protesting students tried to enter into the house of Vice-Chancellor (VC) M Akhtaruzzaman along with beddings to reside there. Later they took place in front of its gate demanding solution of accommodation crisis at the university.
