Dhaka University to provide health insurance to all students

The Dhaka University (DU) authorities are going to bring its all students under an affordable health insurance plan to help them financially during any health-related emergency.

The decision was taken at a deans' committee meeting held at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury senate building on the university campus on Tuesday, said a DU press release.

A six-member committee, headed by the university treasurer, has been formed to formulate a policy to help students receive treatment in any hospital of the country at minimum premiums.

The other members of the committee are Dean of the Faculty of sciences Professor Dr Tofail Ahmed Chowdhury, acting Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Dr Muhammad Abdul Moyeen, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Dr Shahriar Nabi, Professor of Department of Health Economics  Dr Syed Abdul Hamid and Professor of Department of Banking and Insurance Dr Hasina Sheikh.
