As part of its regular eviction drives, the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), conducted raids against non-allotted illegal shop occupiers in the capital's Kaptan Bazar area on Wednesday.

Mohammad Moniruzzaman, property officer and executive magistrate of DSCC conducted raids in the Building-2 of Kaptan Bazar market and ousted 52 occupiers of non-allotted illegal plots. The illegally occupied shops were then sealed off, according to a press statement read issued by the DSCC.

The DSCC mobile courts also conducted drives to detect Aedes mosquito breeding grounds in Shantinagar and Demra areas of the city that same day

"In line with directives issued by the DSCC Mayor, we have conducted drives against illegal shop occupiers in the market, ousted the encroachers and sealed off those shops. We will eventually oust all the illegal occupiers," Mohammad Moniruzzaman said.

Meanwhile, Md Kazi Foysal, executive magistrate of DSCC, conducted a drive in the Shantinagar area of Ward # 13 and visited 39 establishments to detect Aedes mosquito larvae.

During the visits, he found mosquito larvae in three establishments and imposed Tk1 lakh fines on the owners.

Meanwhile, Ferdous Wahid, another executive magistrate of DSCC, conducted similar drives in the Dogoi Notun Bazar area of Ward #66. He visited 50 establishments and slapped fines of Tk21,000 on the owners of five establishments where Aedes larvae had been found.

Today alone, mobile courts had slapped fines of Tk1.21 lakh in eight cases.
