DNCC sells items kept on roads for over Tk21 lakh during eviction drives Monday
The Dhaka North City Corporation will continue operating mobile courts and eviction drives to evict illegal installations
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) conducted drives against illegal structures on roads and footpaths in Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara areas from 10 am to 2 pm on Monday.
The city corporation sold construction materials illegally kept on roads and sidewalks for over Tk21 lakh at immediate auctions during the drives, said a press release.
DNCC Chief Revenue Officer and Executive Magistrate Md Abdul Hamid Mia conducted the mobile court and eviction drive in Gulshan.
Initially, sand kept illegally on the pavement in front of Nagar Bhaban was seized and a DNCC contractor was fined Tk20,000 by a mobile court.
After that, illegally kept rods, bricks, bamboo and other materials on the sidewalk of Gulshan 90 Road were immediately sold at an auction for Tk17.55 lakh.
Regional Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Motakabbir Ahmed conducted drives at Banani and on Kamal Ataturk Avenue.
At that time, construction materials kept on roads and sidewalks in Banani were sold at an auction for Tk3.52 lakh. Two illegally placed refrigerators on the sidewalk were sold at an auction for Tk14,375 in Banani.
In addition, about 30 shops were evicted from sidewalks and roads and one person was fined Tk3,000 for illegally occupying sidewalks and roads.
Chief Executive Officer and Executive Magistrate Sajia Afrin conducted a mobile court and eviction operations from Notunbazar to Badda.
During this time, about 100 temporary shops and makeshift structures that were illegally built on the sidewalks and roads were evicted. One person was fined Tk25,000 for illegally placing materials on the footpath.
Besides, the seized materials were sold at an auction for Tk22,425.
The DNCC will continue operating mobile courts and eviction drives against illegal installations, according to the press release.
