10 highest VAT paying companies awarded honorary crests in Khulna

10 highest VAT paying companies in Khulna were awarded honorary crests to mark National VAT Day and VAT Week.

The crest was presented at an event organized by Khulna Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate on Thursday.

Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleq was the chief guest at the discussion.

Commissioner (current responsibilities) of Khulna Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Shamsul Islam presided over the event. Mongla Customs House Commissioner, Hossain Ahmed; and Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vice President Mostafa Jisan Bhutto were special guests.

KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleq said, "The government has taken various steps to modernize the tax system, making it more dynamic sand tax-friendly. VAT payers can now pay VAT online from the comfort of their own homes."

The city mayor advised the public to be vigilant so that traders are not harassed in paying VAT.

He said, "The construction of Padma Bridge with its own funds, as promised by the government, is a milestone for the people of the region."

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is sincere about the development of the South-West. Development work worth around Tk1,800 crore is currently underway in Khulna City Corporation area," he added.

Abdullah Battery Company Limited of Khulna; China-Bangla Foods of Satkhira; Messrs Monica Chemical of Shariatpur; and Mongla SKS LPG of Bagerhat are among the companies that paid the highest VAT in production, service and business categories in the 2019-20 financial year.

Tiger Garden International of Khulna, Chitta Ghosh Sweets Store of Shariatpur and Hotel Avi of Bagerhat were honoured in the service category.

Messrs Shahil Enterprise of Satkhira; Messrs AG Traders of Shariatpur; and Messrs Tarek Enterprise of Bagerhat were honoured in the business category for paying the highest VAT.
