Two days after hundreds of Myanmar Army men patrolled on three points on the border area and entered into Rakhine state, Dhaka summoned Myanmar Ambassador Aung Kyaw Moe to explain the situation on Sunday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed over a note to the envoy protesting the bid to escalate border tensions.
Dhaka believes that it was done on purpose to unstable the situation on the border.
Md Delwar Hossain, director general of Myanmar cell of the ministry, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard on Sunday night.
On Friday (September 11), more than one thousand of Myanmar army personnel patrolled on three points of the border with Bangladesh and later they entered into Rakhine State.
The Myanmar ambassador was asked to tell Myanmar government to stop such move and take immediate steps to clear up if there is any misunderstanding, he added.
Earlier on August, 2017, a similar incident of military gathering occurred on the border before they started a genocide on Rohingya community in Rakhine state. It's feared that it will create fear among the Rohingyas, who are currently staying at Rakhine.
So, Dhaka took this precaution and talked to the Myanmar ambassador in order to avoid such incident.
On the situation in Rakhine more broadly, it is now more than three years since over 700,000 Rohingyas were forcibly displaced from their homes to Bangladesh because of violence perpetrated by the Myanmar military.
