Development expenditures not benefiting people: Adviser Fouzul
There is no connection between development costs and the people’s welfare, he says
The development expenditures on projects are not benefiting the people, Railways Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan said today (31 August).
"There is no connection between development costs and the people's welfare," Fouzul, also the road transport and bridges adviser, told media after the inspection of the Padma Bridge Rail Link project at Mawa Railway Station in Munshiganj's Louhajang Upazila.
He further said, "On one hand, it is being claimed that the country's GDP is increasing, but the people are not reaping its benefits."
Expressing concern about the Padma Bridge Rail Link project, Fouzul, also the power, energy and mineral resources adviser, questioned the extent to which the new railway line would benefit the people and how long it would take to recover the significant investment.
Senior officials from the ministries were present during the adviser's visit.
