Department of inspection discusses ways to curb factory accidents
The meeting was organised with the goal of boosting interconnectivity among various government agencies and institutions
The Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) on Tuesday organised an exchange of views programme to discuss ways for curbing accidents in factories and institutions.
DIFE Inspector General Shib Nath Roy president over the inter-departmental programme held at the department headquarter in Dhaka.
The meeting is the first of its kind to be organised in Bangladesh with the goal of boosting interconnectivity among various government agencies and institutions, and to create a comprehensive action plan on the issue, according to a press release.
Addressing the programme as the chief guest, Labour Secretary KM Ali said, "All concerned departments and institutions must make a united effort to curb accidents in factories. We must take special care to do our respective duties sincerely."
The secretary later asked officials concerned to form an inter-departmental monitoring committee comprised of related departments and agencies to prevent accidents in factories.
The DIFE is an autonomous government agency that operates under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. It is responsible for health and safety inspections in factories and industries.
