Dengue patients decrease by 10pc
The number of patients discharged from hospitals is higher than newly-admitted patients
The number of dengue patients has decreased by 10 percent with some 783 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.
The number was 865 a day before on Monday.
But more people are now being identified with the mosquito-borne disease outside Dhaka. During the time, some 439 patients were admitted to different hospitals in other districts while some 344 got admission in Dhaka, according to the health directorate.
On the other hand, the number of patients discharged from hospitals is higher than newly-admitted patients. Some 410 dengue patients were discharged against the admission of 344 new patients in Dhaka hospitals.
Similarly, in other districts, some 558 returned home and some 439 got admitted newly.
A total of 72,745 patients were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease since January. Of them, 95 percent or 68,811 people returned home after getting treatment.
At present, some 3,746 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals across the country, including 2,111 in Dhaka and 1,635 outside.
Two more die
Two more people died of dengue in Satkhira and Chattogram.
Hailing from Kolaroa in Satkhira, dengue patient Rahima Begum, 58, died while undergoing treatment at Gazi Medical College Hospital in Khulna on Monday night.
With this, the death toll reached three in the district.
Rahima Begum, wife of Yasin Ali, was first admitted to Satkhira CB Hospital a week after being infected with dengue, said Dr Kamrul Islam of Kolaroa Upazila Health Complex.
Rahima was moved to Khulna Medical College Hospital and later in Gazi Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated. She died in the latter hospital, confirmed the hospital authorities.
In Chattogram, another patient died of dengue at the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) of the port city on Tuesday.
The deceased Biplob Das hailed from Chandanaish upazila of Chattogram. He is the second person to die of dengue in the district.
Earlier on August 31, another dengue patient Badsha Mollah, 45, hailing from Salimpur of Sitakuna upazila died at Park View Hospital.
Chattogram Civil Surgeon Office (Dengue control) Medical Officer Dr Nurul Hayder said a total of 1,151 dengue patients have been identified in Chattogram till September 2.
