A defamation case has been filed against Nurul Haque Nur, the vice president of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu).

Mujahid Kamal Uddin, vice-president of Dhaka University Salimullah Muslim Hall Students' Union, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ziaur Rahman.

Plaintiff's lawyer AKM Enamul Haque Rupam confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

The investigation is yet to complete into the matter. Necessary action will be taken after the investigation.

Earlier, Muzahid said Nur has tarnished the image of Dhaka University by his wrongdoings using his position with Ducsu.

On December 3, a private television leaked an audio clip of VP Nur's conversation over illegal exchange of money. The audio went viral on social media. Nur claimed media broadcasted a part of his phone conversation to confuse general people.

General Secretary of Ducsu Golam Rabbani in a press conference demanded VP Nur's resignation on December 6.
