Cyclone Yaas: 1,048 shelters, 116 medical teams on standby in Khulna
To face any situation over the cyclonic storm Yaas, some 1,048 shelters and 116 medical teams have been kept ready across Khulna district.
Khulna district administration took the initiative as a measure to keep the damage of the storm to a minimum level and prevent losses of lives and property.
Khulna District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Azizul Haque Joardar said a meeting of the district disaster management committee has already been held.

"The meeting discussed the response to the threat of cyclone Yaas in detail," he told The Business Standard.
Set up across nine upazilas of the district, 324 are permanent shelters and 724 are temporary ones including schools, colleges and madrasas.
"Upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) in coastal areas, including Dakop and Koyra upazilas, of Khulna have been asked to make public announcements through loudspeakers in advance," Joardar added.
According to the District Disaster Management Committee, all committee members, NGOs, CPPs, Fire Service and other agencies have been instructed to prepare themselves.
