Cumilla celebrates National VAT Day 

National VAT Day was observed at Cumilla's S Islam Park View Building adjacent to City Park arranged by Cumilla Customs Excise and VAT Commissionerate on Thursday.

Speaking as the chief guest of the function, Cumilla Customs Excise and VAT Commissioner Md. Belal Hossain Chowdhury said, "Cumilla Customs today has won first place in everything including online return submission, certificate case settlement, revenue collection. It is possible because everyone has sincerity."

"The lion's share of the country's economy comes from VAT. The more people are aware and patriotic about paying VAT, the better the country will be," he added. 

Comilla Customs Joint Commissioner Md Mushfiqur Rahman presided over the function and Assistant Revenue Officer Mohammad Noor-e-Alam, Kazi Sharmin Sultana was the special guest. Additional Commissioner Md Abdul Hakim, Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Chalauddin Ripon were also present. Joint Commissioner Md Mushfiqur Rahman presented the key-note paper.

At the end of the ceremony, the Customs Commissioner presented honorary crests, certificates and gift items to the three companies for their special contribution in paying the highest VAT. The three honoured companies are Safiul Alam Steel Rolling Mills Ltd, Comilla Infinity Showroom and Bonful & Co Ltd.
