CU journalists’ association elects new committee
Imran Hossain, CU correspondent of The Business Standard has been elected as the president
Chittagong University Journalists' Association (CUJA) held its election for the 2021 session on Thursday.
Imran Hossain, CU correspondent of The Business Standard has been elected as the president; while Monawar Reaz Munna, CU correspondent of the daily Protidiner Sangbad has been nominated as the general secretary.
According to Dr Robiul Hasan Bhuiyan, chief election commissioner, a total of 30 voters cast their votes.
After holding the vote between 11:00am and 2:15am, the chief election commissioner announced the results at around 3:00pm in the presence of CU proctor, assistant proctors, and the outgoing president and secretary of CUJA.
The leaders of the newly-formed executive committee are Minhajul Islam Tuhin of daily Alokito Bangladesh as joint secretary; Raihan Uddin of the daily Purbokone as press and publication secretary; Saiful Islam of the daily Jaijaidin as finance secretary; and Emam Emu of the daily Azadi as executive member.
Meanwhile, Nazmus Sadat, CU correspondent of the Bangladesh News Agency won the vice presidency of the new committee, uncontested.
