An activist of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was gunned down by miscreants at Banduk Bhanga in Sadar upazila on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Sumon Chakma, an activist of UPDF (Proshit group).

A group of miscreants swooped on the UPDF man and opened fire on him, leaving him dead on the spot, said Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shafiullah, quoting locals.

However, the reason behind the murder is still not clear.
