A 13-year-old girl of Gazipur's Tongi upazila has been reportedly gang-raped by her Tik-Tok friends in the capital's Gendaria area after alluring her with a promise to make a Tik-Tok video.

Police have arrested two teenagers over the incident.

The arrestees are- Shishir Bepari, 17, son of Mofazzol Bepari, and Junaid Islam Fahim, 18, son of Anwar Hossain, residents of Gendaria upazila.

Tongi West Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Delwar Hossain Chowdhury said that the victim girl, a seventh-grader of a local school in Tongi's Dattapara area, used to make Tik-Tok videos and get acquainted with other adolescents 'Tik-Tokers' from around the country through social media.

On the afternoon of 23 December, the teenagers, introducing themselves as social media celebrities, took the victim from Dattapara to Gendaria alluring her to give chance for working in a Tik-Tok video with them.

Later, they gang-raped her in a house in the area.

The following day, failing to trace the girl, her mother lodged a General Diary (GD) with Tongi's East police station.

OC Delwar added that after the GD, the police started conducting drives in different areas.

Later, using modern technologies, the police rescued the victim from Hatirjheel's Madhubag area of the capital on Friday evening.

The two teenagers were also held from Gandaria's Narinder Saratchandra Road at the same time.

Later on Saturday, the GD was taken in the form of a case and the detainees were shown arrested in the case.

Along with them, three more accomplices were arrested on that day.

They will be sent to court today (Sunday), said the police

Besides, the victim girl was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment, said the OC.
