A student's body has been recovered at the Pak Panjatan Mujibia Sunnia Hafizia Madrasa in Cumilla city on Sunday.

The deceased was Sabbir,7, son of Alamgir Hossain, resident of Jagannathpur union of Cumilla Sadar.

Confirming the matter, Md Anwarul Haq, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station, said that when Sajib's mother went to the madrasa with food for her son in the evening, Headmaster Jonaid Ahmed informed her that Sajib was given leave.

As Sajib did not go home, her mother suspected the headmaster.

Over suspicion, the madrasa was searched and the body was found hidden under a blanket. The body bore several injury marks.

Md Sohan Sarker, additional superintendent of Cumilla (Sadar circle) police, said that they visited the spot and detained three people including the headmaster

Police are investigating the incident, he said.
