'RMG worker Kawsar shot dead by unidentified outsiders': Police files case over Ashulia unrest
36 have been arrested over yesterday’s clash, a police report also said
A case has been filed over yesterday's clash involving protesting factory workers, outsiders, and law enforcement agencies that left a worker dead and several others injured in Ashulia industrial zone.
Md Rashed Mia, sub-inspector of Industrial Police, filed the case with Ashulia Police Station against 1,100-1,200 unidentified individuals last night (30 September).
When contacted, Md Rashed Mia told The Business Standard that all those who were shot in yesterday's clashes were shot at by "workers and unidentified assailants".
The case alleges that during the clash, the worker, Md Kawsar Khan, was shot dead by unidentified outsiders.
Meanwhile, 36 people were arrested by drives conducted by joint forces yesterday, said Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abu Bakar Siddik.
Kawsar was a swing operator at a factory of Mango Tex, a concern of SM Sourcing, yesterday.
Mango Tex Managing Director Mirza Shams yesterday told The Business Standard that some outsiders brought a procession near the Mango Tex factory. Later workers from the factory joined them, leading to the closure of the factory.
Mirza said Kawsar died about 45 minutes after in a clash with law enforcement agencies in front of a Mondol Group factory.
Mango Tex has promised to pay Tk5 lakh to Kawsar's family.
