Detectives said that attempts were underway to arrest the others involved in the killing

Police have dispelled the mystery surrounding the murder of Palli Bidyut Samiti worker Sardar Shamsul Alam Tangail.

He was beaten to death over a dispute with a local contractor over a work, police have found.

Latif Mia, 35, son of Zahirul Islam of Karatia union of TangailSadarupazila, and MdHaider Khan, 28, son of Mohabbat Khan, confessed to the killing in the Tangail Judicial Magistrate's Court on Sunday afternoon. 

Detectives arrested them on Saturday. Senior Judicial Magistrate Rupam Kumar Das recorded their statements.

District Detective Police (South) Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shyamal Kumar Dutt said Shamsul Alam was returning home on February 29 from the PalliBidyutSamiti when seven to eight people waylaid him and beat him up. 

He was later rescued by locals and taken to Tangail General Hospital where he died.

Two days after the incident, his wife Josna Begum filed a case with the Delduar police station in and the district detective police were given the responsibility of investigating the case.

The detectives said that attempts were underway to arrest the others involved in the killing.
