Police arrest 3 Jubo league leaders scrutinising footage
Police have arrested three leaders of the Jubo League on charges of indiscriminate firing on student-led protests in the city's Mirpur area on 4 August and killing a protester.
The arrestees are Jubo League's Baunia A-block president Abdur Rahman alias Sujan, C-block organising secretary Md Shaheen Khan and a member Sohel of Pallabi Thana unit, said a press release of media and public relations of the Detective Branch of police.
A team of Pallabi Police Station arrested them at midnight (2 October) after scrutinising footage of the surrounding areas of Popular Diagnostic Centre at Mirpur where leaders and activists of different associate bodies of the Awami League arbitrarily fired gunshots targeting a peaceful protest, police said.
One Md Imran sustained bullet wounds in the attack and was rushed to Dr Azmal Hospital where the on-duty physicians pronounced him dead.
A murder case was lodged in this regard. The arrestees were later sent to court.
